The Operational Excellence Department is responsible within the Healthcare Poland Foundation for developing processes in healthcare providers using lean management methods. The aim is to shorten the patient pathway, eliminate waste and relieve staff — while maintaining safety and quality of care.

- Diagnosis — observation of processes where they happen (gemba), operational data

- Sustainment — process audits, indicator reviews, Kaizen cycle
Procedures
- Registration of an organisation and selection of the process to improve.
- Diagnosis and value stream mapping with the organisation’s team.
- Improvement plan with objectives and indicators.
- Pilot, measurement of results and standardisation of the solution.
- Sustainment audit and transfer of conclusions to the Foundation’s self-learning loop.

The Department works with the Centre for Quality, Audit and Certification, the Health System Department, the Medical Care Department and with the Lean Medic Foundation.
